How Expensive is Life on the Road? [April 2015]

Category : Uncategorized

How expensive is life on the road? About $55 a day.

I like to break it down to my per day costs:

Groceries and Ice: $8.43

Car Payment, Insurance, & Gas: $21.80

Hobbies (Climbing, Surfing, Camera): $22

Camping: $2

Everything else: roughly $1

The month was much pricier than I thought… I had to purchase a new climbing rope and opted to purchase a new camera on the road. These two are factored into the $22 per day that my hobbies have costed me. I’d like to say that these are outliers, but maybe they aren’t. I think each month I should have a couple hundred dollars budgeted incase I need to replace/acquire gear.

Expenses: $1662.64
Dividend Income: $162.51
Percentage of expenses paid by dividend income: 9.8%

PASSIVE INCOME VS EXPENSES APRIL 2015 dropped below 10% againThis is the second month in a row where I’ve paid for less than 10% of my expenses with dividends. It’s nothing to be ashamed of, I’m still pulling in north of $150 every month with dividends. This is the reality of traveling; it’s just hard to do it inexpensively.

The amount I am receiving in dividends is now just slowly increasing. Since I’ve stopped contributing thousands of dollars into my portfolio each month, I now fully rely on reinvesting dividends and dividend increases.

Passive income in april was $162.51

Not bad! Looks like $150 is the new floor, every month I can expect at-least that much.
